iNSD 2013: Wait, what?

So, last time I was here, I was leaving DHD. Let’s just say, a LOT has happened since then. If you’re here, chances are you know, but just in case you don’t, here’s a slight recap:

On January 1st, a brand-new digital store opened. This store (which is called Pixels and Company, or P&Co for short) happens to be my favorite, because it has some of the best designers in the industry. Oh, and it happens to be owned by me. 😉

(See? I told you it was a slight recap.)

Opening my own store has been amazing. Thrilling, scary as hell, and everything in between. I’m lucky enough to have an amazing team with me, and I’m happy to be wrapping up our first official blog hop, for interNational Scrapbook Day, and giving you the opportunity to grab this amazing kit for free:

pco_moreorless_preview

My contribution is this:

gb_moreorless_previewI know you want the code, but first, I’d like to give you a little tip. It’s no secret I love mists and splatters; I pretty much include them in every kit I design, and on every layout I do. I think they are an amazing way to add a bit of texture and interest. Here, I’ve got the splatter from More or Less on top of a basic kraft paper from Homebody (debuting on Friday at P&Co):

1

Pretty, right? But, what do you do if the mist or splatter you want isn’t the color you want? My favorite way to recolor is by locking the pixels. Make sure your splatter layer is selected, and then click on the little checkerboard icon at the top of your layers panel. Here’s the screenshot of mine in PSE (left) and PS (right):

lockpixels

You’ll know you did it right when the icon appears next to your layer name. Now, you can paint over the layer with a large, hard round brush and *only* the existing pixel information will be affected. In other words, easy, peasy:

3

Another thing I like to do sometimes is make my splatter just a bit stronger, which is especially helpful with a fine mist. To do that, simply duplicate the splatter layer to make it a bit more opaque and visible, like the one below:

4(Left is original mist, and right is duplicated.) If you do this, make sure you link the two together so you can move them around your page.

So, that’s it. Now, on to the fun stuff. Before you go grab the kit, be sure to follow my FB page, Instagram, Pinterest, and/or Twitter to stay up-to-date on all of my designing happenings. We’ve got loads of fun things going on at P&Co this weekend, and you won’t want to miss any of it!

And, to kick things off right, I’m giving away a prize! Comment here for your chance to win my store for a month. That’s right… Every new release for May-July will be yours, and I have some great things realeasing… If you’re on my home page, the comment link is at the top of each post. 😉

In addition, use coupon code lessismore to get an additional 10% off my products, on top of the sitewide 35% discount! (Note: Discount not applicable to The Company Stash kits, which are priced at only $1 each Wed and Thurs, and contest ends at 11:59 PM MST on Sunday, May 5.)

The number (yes!) you need to finish up the coupon code is:

number2

As in, the number of designers who worked so hard to bring you this amazing kit. 😉

A few last minute notes:

  • You should have gathered 18 letters, plus the number I gave you, for a total of 20 characters in your code.
  • They will spell out a phrase, so if it doesn’t, double check them.
  • Enter them all in capital letters, with no spaces
  • If you have any problems, let me know, either through here, the contact page on the site, or email: helpme@pixelsandcompany.com

You can find the kit here: More or Less. Have a fun and fantastic iNSD weekend, and thanks for stopping by today!

    Hi,

I have finished the blog hop but the code I have doesn’t make sense and doesn’t work. I have XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX. Since you are the last stop, I thought I would ask you for help. Am I missing someone?

    • Hi, Amy! I crossed out your coupon code so it doesn’t give it away, but you may want to check out Creashen’s blog again… Once that one is fixed, you should be good to go. 🙂

This has been the most unique – and fun – blog hop ever. I got soooo side-tracked by all of the great tuts and hints along the way I was afraid I wouldn’t finish before the links expired! LOL Honestly – I learned so much moving from blog to blog. Other hops you rush in for the link and move on. I have bookmarks in so many of the stops because I want to try something they shared or go back and see what else is there. Great idea, guys!! Thanks for letting me on for the ride. And at the end . . . I have learned a lot AND picked up a mega-kit that is incredible!! Can’t beat that!

  48. Karen says:

Congrats ob your new store. I just recently discovered it and I really like it. Thanks so much for the totally gorgeous kit. And for giving it to us via the coupon code.
