Giveaway (AKA Can I Buy Your Affection?)

I’ve been going without sleep -again- getting some new products in my Etsy shop. Along with my family trees, which you’ve probably seen by now, I’ve added a few new things.

I did this first one about six months ago, and I’ve loved it more and more every time I look at it on my wall. I started with this photo, taken two years ago:
Then, I turned it into this:
(Yes, I totally slimmed my hips. Wouldn’t you? And now how many of you scrolled back up to compare?)

I did the same thing as a gift for my new sister-in-law, going from this:
to this:
And while I was at it, I played around with the options for my family trees. While I still love the original:
I’m also really digging it in color. Perhaps raspberry, cerulean, kelly, or light grey:

There are twenty different colors to choose from, for the discriminating decorator.
So, what would you choose? A silhouette or a family tree? Neutral or vibrant? Keep it or give it away?

To celebrate two years of you putting up with listening to and supporting me, I’m giving away two prizes. That’s right, two winners will get to choose their very own. I’ll be giving away one 11×14 print and one 8×10 print, so all you have to do is comment here, and tell me what you’d choose! (Gratuitous compliments are always appreciated, too. Not necessary, but appreciated.)

Want even more chances to win? Post about this giveaway on your blog, share it on Facebook, or tweet it, and you’ll get an extra entry for each one. (Make sure you post a new comment every time!)

I’ll close the comments on Friday, Nov 12, and post the winners on Saturday, Nov 13!

I get to leave the first comment?!? Woo Hoo!! I would probably choose the family tree, since I haven't had a family picture taken yet that I love or think would work for a silhouette – and I love the cherry red.

  2. Katey says:

I would choose the shadow of our family. We dont have kids yet but we do have 2 dogs. I think that would look pretty neat in the silhouette! Not sure what color I would choose. Love your work and would love to have it in my house!

  3. Angie says:

Both of them are so very cute. I would probably pick the Family Tree. What a great idea.

  4. LOL I totally scrolled up! Gen I was just looking at these in your Etsy store, they are SO gorgeous. I love the gray of either. Going to have to see if I can get all the family info together for gifts, but if not birthday's next year!

  5. I would definitely choose the family tree. I have loved those since I first saw them posted! The hard part would be choosing the color background. I like the original tan, but I also like the kelly green you posted and the olive. firrkids(at)gmail.com

I also scrolled up and down to compare! Beautiful work! I think I would choose the portrait one. 3 of my 4 kids now live at 3 opposite ends of the US from each other. It would be nice to use an older photo with all of us in it so I can once again see them all together!

  7. Brandie says:

I love the silhouette! I have the perfect picture for it.

  8. I love both the silhouette and the family tree! They're both awesome! I think the option for colors is a great idea. If I had to choose one, I'd probably choose the family tree and I'd have a hard time making up my mind on the color!

I just want to say I love both! My family tree is very *ahem* askew, so I would probably pick the silhouette. Great gift ideas!~KAMINER317

  10. Amy says:

Love them both, but I'd probably do the family tree – unless slimming my hips is a part of the silhouette deal! And my nickname is Neutral Nancy, so I'd probably go with the dark grey, although the olive speaks to me also! These are absolutely fantastic work! Crossing my fingers 🙂

  11. hey Gennifer, I would love the family photo thing in olive or grey. Come see my etsy shop..http://beautifulswagstore.etsy.comemail me your store address. i will keep under my favoriets.

  12. Casey Wright says:

Ooh! These are so cool! I'm going to have to go check out your etsy store :)… I love the family tree though, it's just so personal and a great family heirloom. I love the teal or the olive 🙂

  13. Holly says:

I love them both, but would probably choose the family tree as i too have a hip issue 🙂 I love all the colors, grey and cerulean are my fav 🙂

  14. I love the family Trees. I love them in color. LAst year you made one for me. I loved it. It was a gift for my mother in law. She loved it too!I would love to win one for me!

  15. Colleen says:

I admit, I scrolled up to see the original pic. Can't really tell a difference. 🙂 I do like the Silhouette pics! Very cute idea. I'm liking the different colors of family trees as well. Basically, you're amazing, but you already know I think that. (Or you should by now). 🙂

  16. Colleen says:

Alright, I posted about this on FB. I HATE it though! Ends up making my chances of winning very slim-to-none! I would want the silhouette pic (with a lot of things slimmed) if I won. 🙂

  17. Jennifer says:

Oh I love them all, why oh why do you make us choose…;) I would probably go with the silhouette pic in neutral, definitely a keeper 🙂

  18. Crystal says:

LOL! I did totally scroll up to compare, but honestly you didn't need slimming at all! :p These are so cool Gennifer! I love them! I adore the silhouette one. just fabulous!

  19. Mary Rogers says:

I would never scroll up to compare….I love the family tree one and the gray rally stood out to me…so fabulouscreativeand fun!!!

  20. Jennifer V says:

Honestly, I thought "Man, that girl has a good butt in that photo!" and was kind of jealous! As to slimming in the silhouettes, hey, the cook controls the spices, right? (That might not make sense. It's getting a bit late, and I'm off caffeine for a while and into veggie drinks.) I love the red and blue family trees – LOVE the vivid colors! I hope these are all wildy successful for you!

  21. MamaBug says:

I have been in love with your family trees since I first saw them. I would totally love to give one as a gift to my in-laws. The only thing that has stopped me is fearing they aren't quite done getting grandkids. 🙂 I'd probably go with the original tan for them.If I win though, I might have to do a silhouette of my family. Do I really have to pick a color? 😉

  22. MamaBug says:

Ok, posted on my blog. :)http://whimandwhimsy.blogspot.com/2010/11/awesome-give-away.html

  23. MamaBug says:

    And on FB too. 🙂 I guess it's unfortunate I don't tweet. 🙂

  24. Heather says:

Gen I've loved your family trees & now you have come up trumps with the silhouette idea!! I would have to chose the tree in grey as I have spent years tracing my ancestors & it would be great to see them branching out :)……and my bums too big for a silhouette!!!Love your work Gen xx

  25. humel says:

Nope, you can't buy my affection – because I already love you, you know that! xxBut, you know, if my name should come up… 😉 I'd just love a family tree, and that cerulean blue would go perfectly in my living room 🙂

  26. Monda says:

What an amazing concept – the family trees are brilliant. Thanks for sharing your talents

  27. jesa says:

It's difficult to choose because I love both for a holiday gift idea. But if I had to pick one or nothing then I would lean towards the silhouette. Thanks you for sharing your new projects now off to your etsy shop after the winner is announced!

  28. decoda0421 says:

Wow, I love both of those. Really cute!!! I would have to say the family tree for me though, I hate pictures of me of any kind.

  29. Anonymous says:

I too think I would choose the tree as I have been wanting to do a family tree and at this point do not have a picture of the entire family – parents, siblings, children and grandchildren together. Thanks for sharing these with us. You are one talented lady.Denise

  30. Sabrina L says:

GASP! Those silhouettes are gorgeous! Even if I don't win I definitely need one.

  31. Helena says:

These are so cool! I love the family silhouette.
